Quimser improves energy and fuel efficiency
Spanish leather chemicals manufacturer Quimser has unveiled the outcomes of its initiatives aimed at enhancing energy and fuel efficiency.
A strategic move to curb diesel consumption has resulted in a 40% decrease. The company has transitioned from using diesel for heating raw materials in manufacturing processes within reactors to employing alternative raw materials that remain liquid at ambient temperatures, thereby eliminating the need for heating.
Anticipating further progress, Quimser expects an additional 10% decrease in diesel consumption by 2024.
Turning their attention to electricity energy efficiency, the installation of photovoltaic panels at one of their industrial warehouses by the end of 2022 propelled the company's self-sufficiency level to 43% in 2023, an increase from 39% in 2022.
Even in facilities awaiting the integration of photovoltaic panels, the company says it has managed to achieve a 15% reduction in electricity consumption through the implementation of optimisation measures in their production processes.
