Australia’s sheep flock to decline this year

After three years of consecutive growth, Australia’s sheep flock is set to decrease by 2.9% in 2024, taking it to 76.5 million head. This is the main finding of sheep industry projections that industry body Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) has published.

It said sheep slaughter this year is likely to reach 7.9 million head, which would be an increase of 11.7% compared to 2023.
