Sfere technology implemented at Mégisserie Richard

Mégisserie Richard, a company that specialises in producing leather for luxury bags, garments, and shoes, has partnered with Qualus to use Sferes for production at its tannery in Millau, France.

The company successfully trialled Qualus’ system to reduce water by 40% and chemicals by 15% in retanning at a small scale over the last year. Based on the success of the trial, the company has decided to move to production at scale. The tannery, rated as Leather Working Group (LWG) silver is targeting gold with the additional water savings.

Mégisserie Richard is the first tannery in France to adopt this technology, leading the path towards sustainability for the luxury leather sector.

Mégisserie Richard's CEO, Geoffrey Talpe, mentioned that the company is committed to achieving Net Zero and is constantly in search of innovations that will enable them to deliver this goal. He also added that Qualus’ Sfere technology helps them to continue to further improve the environmental footprint of their tannery while maintaining the unique quality of their products.

Vikrant Pratap, Qualus’ CEO, expressed his pride in working with such an iconic tannery and providing a technology that meets Mégisserie Richard’s standards, supporting it in its drive to lead the luxury industry in not only the uniqueness of its products but also the sustainability of its operations.
