DyTan makes exhibition debut
German leather chemicals group Tumpler has chosen the India International Leather Fair (IILF) as the first event to showcase leathers made using its new DyTan system.
Presenting leathers in a range of colours and utilising different base materials, the company showed leathers suitable for a wide range of applications from garment and footwear to upholstery and automotive.
The new system, launched in October 2023, is a chrome, metal and aldehyde free system that is said to do away with traditional retanning stages as the dyeing and tanning afforded by the new system act as one.
Trumpler said the system facilitates the covalent cross-linking of collagen fibres in leather whilst colouring the leather at the same time.
With two systems available, for black and "colour-free", the company claim that tanning and dyeing in the same stage is extendable to almost any shade
