Brazil exports pass $1 billion
Brazilian leather association CICB recently announced exports of hides and leather have surpassed $1 billion, with November exports amounting to $89.3 million, a 10.7% increase from November 2022.
In November, Brazilian tanners shipped 13.3 million square meters, totalling 36.8 thousand tons, showing an increase of 23.6% and 20.9%, respectively, compared to the previous year's figures.
The combined area of hides and skins shipped by Brazilian tanners this year was 144.5 million square meters, an increase of 11% year on year. Rio Grande do Sul led the way with 26.5% of total exports, followed by Parna with 19.9%.
Only China saw an improvement in purchasing materials, with the USA and Italy showing a decline due to weakened demand amidst global uncertainties.
