Frank Gehry-Louis Vuitton partnership is still yielding fruit
Recent fruits of a long-standing partnership between luxury leathergoods brand Louis Vuitton and prominent architect Frank Gehry went on display at the 2023 Art Basel Miami Beach contemporary art exhibition in Florida.
Mr Gehry said he had enjoyed the process of creating a new collection of Louis Vuitton handbags, including seven versions of the brand’s Capucines bag, a bear-shaped clutch crafted from brass, and a distinctly shaped black leather version (pictured) of a bag Mr Gehry first made for Louis Vuitton in 2014, the Twisted Box.
He said creating handbags still felt like something new for him, but he said aspects of the process, such as the search for an idea, were common to all creative activity.
The architect’s relationship with the company began more than ten years ago when he designed the Louis Vuitton Foundation museum and arts centre in Paris.
