Italian trade union organisation CGIL has expressed support for employees of Gucci who began industrial action at the end of November.

The workers are protesting over the company’s decision to transfer around 150 members of staff from Rome to Milan next year.

Gucci told news organisation Reuters that its aim was to make it possible for members of its creative team to work closely with their colleagues in strategic functions.

It said the proposed move would not involve any reduction in the workforce.
