Activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), has taken legal action against footwear company, Ugg, accusing it of making false claims about its use of animal by-products in its shoes.

In a cease and desist letter sent to Ugg, PETA demanded that the company remove, what it believes, are misleading statements from its website and promotional material.

PETA has given Ugg until December 1 to comply, failing which, PETA will lodge a complaint with federal authorities.
