Car design award supported by Bridge of Weir
UK-based tannery Bridge of Weir Leather has collaborated with Car Design News and the Royal College of Art (RCA) to introduce the Peter Horbury Fellowship award.
The award is aimed at supporting young design talent and honours the legacy of Peter Horbury, described as one of the greatest car designers of his generation. Horbury worked at Chrysler, Ford, Volvo, and Lotus, where he was VP of design at the time of his death.
The Peter Horbury Fellowship Award is open to full-time bachelor's degree students in their first and second year of the transportation design course at the RCA. The award is supported by Bridge of Weir and offers a £5000 bursary to the winning student and recognises the close connection between the RCA Intelligent Mobility program and the industry, as well as the alumni from the program. Course head Dale Harrow and the RCA faculty will be selecting the winner.
James Muirhead, sales director at Bridge of Weir Leather, expressed his great honour in supporting the Peter Horbury Fellowship Award in partnership with Car Design News. Muirhead praised Peter's contributions to the automotive industry and his inspiring legacy for future designers.
The award will be presented at the CDN People Awards on 7 December at the Londoner in Leicester Square.
