Big increase in lamb slaughter figures predicted for Australia

Lamb slaughter in Australia this year is likely to be in excess of 22 million, industry promotional body Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) has said. It is predicting an increase of 16% compared to 2022.
Australia’s record for lamb slaughter in a single year is 23.6 million head, a total it achieved in 2016.
This year, the country’s breeding ewe flock will reach 46.14 million head, the highest since 2007.
