Tanzanian collaboration continues with ICLT

The University of Northampton recently hosted representatives from the Tanzanian Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) . During the official visit, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding underlined the continued collaboration between the Tanzanian Institute and the Institute for Creative Leather Technologies (ICLT).

DIT are in the process of building a new campus in Mwanza which will include a teaching tannery; DIT are looking to the globally renowned ICLT and Subject Area of Fashion and Leather to support them with staff training and development.  Vicki Dean subject leader for Fashion and Leather at the University of Northampton said, “today presents a fabulous opportunity for both parties and we are thrilled that the relationship has been formalised by the signing of the MOU.”

Dar Es Salaam Institute of Technology and the Leather Department of leather products technology (Mwanza Campus) offers a three-year program in leather processing technology, leading to a national technical award (NTA level 6). This program supplements current offerings of leather products technology, science and laboratory technology, and short courses in leather craft, shoe making, leather goods making, occupational health and safety, tie and dye, and information and communication technology.
