Dr Martens planning repair service

18/09/2023
UK footwear brand Dr Martens, is planning to introduce a shoe repair service in the UK next month, Reuters reports.

This strategic move is aimed at bolstering the company's sustainability credentials while also opening up a new revenue stream. By offering this service, Dr Martens hopes to inspire its patrons to prolong the lifespan of their boots. The firm is currently in the process of testing this service with its staff in preparation for a UK-wide rollout.

Dr Martens has teamed up with The Boot Repair Company based in Leeds to provide these repairs, with customers likely to see re-soling a pair of boots costing half the price of a new pair. However, other repairs are likely to be less expensive.

While this repair service may lead to a reduction in demand for new boots, CEO Kenny Wilson believes that it will ultimately benefit the brand by fostering customer loyalty. Wilson revealed that the company receives numerous letters every week from individuals inquiring about repairing their DMs.
