Argentinean tanning group Arlei has been recognised by the government ministry with responsibility for promoting clean energy with an award called Efficient Argentina, for implementing and certifying an energy management system using the ISO 50001 standard.

Head of sustainability at Arlei, received the award on behalf of the company. Arlei has said  the new energy management systems has saved it between 5% and 15% in energy consumption, without significant investment.

With over 1,300 employees, Arlei processes more than 10,000 hides per day and is the largest exporter of finished leather in the country. Most of its material is exported to Europe, Asia, Australia, the US and Mexico.
