China leather industry exports hit new record
At the annual meeting of the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) held in Shanghai on August 28, Li Yuzhong, the vice president of China National Council of Light Industry and the president of CLIA, reported that the leather industry had exceeded 100 billion USD in exports for the first time.
In 2022, the profit growth of the China footwear and fur and products industries increased by 14.0% and 6.4% year-on-year, respectively. The United States remained the largest market for China's leather products exports in 2022, with an exported value of 21.35 billion USD. Li emphasized that branding is crucial for achieving high-quality development and moving into the medium-high end market.
