France’s minister for industry, Roland Lescure, has said in an address to the Sustainable Leather Forum that he is fully aware of the value of the country’s leather sector.

He said the French leather industry’s success was built on “a unique savoir-faire”. He said it was something the government was determined to preserve and he encouraged the industry “to intensify its efforts to increase sustainability, in areas such as water use, energy use and traceability”.
