Women’s empowerment welcomed in the Pakistan leather industry
In Karachi's leather sector of Korangi industrial, Pakistan's leather industry has welcomed women's empowerment.
On August 31st, Bahria University Karachi Campus held a certification ceremony to honour the successful participants of the "Women Empowerment in Leather Sector" program. This program is aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment in the leather industry. It offered practical training on leather processing, cleaner production techniques, and solid waste management.
The event celebrated the successful completion of the program and marked a promising step towards gender equality and sustainable development in the industry. The Pakistan Tanners Association, Southern Zone-Environmental Society, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) collaborated to fund this initiative.
Bahria University expressed its intention to explore further collaboration opportunities to provide meaningful learning experiences for students that align with industry demands. The industry is committed to offering employment opportunities to qualified women in their units, thereby solidifying their dedication to gender inclusivity.
