New technicians nearing end of FILK schooling

Seven new leather technicians are soon to finalise their formal training at the FILK Freiberg Institute and its newly refurbished tannery.

Having started their formal education as leather technicians five months ago, the seven students just have the final practical orientated project work to complete.

In partnership with industrial training and education specialists SBG Dresden, the students, from Heller-Leder, Südleder, Lederfabrik Heinen and Nossener Sämischleder H.A. Müller, have already covered the theoretical aspects of leather manufacture and will return to their prospective employers to deal with, amongst other things,  vegetable dyes, zeolite tanning and vegetable tanning processes.

In social media posts, FILK Freiberg Institute thanked the students and their employers and wished them success and enthusiasm for “the natural material leather”

Adding

“Like many other industries, the leather industry invests heavily in making leather and its manufacturing process even more sustainable”
