A strong July for Brazilian leather
Preliminary figures show that the Brazilian leather industry increased export volumes and values in the month of July.
National tanning industry body CICB has reported export revenues of $82.2 million for shipments of leather and hides during the month and volumes of 30,000 tonnes.
Compared to the same month last year, these figures represent an increase of 5% in value and of 35.4% in volume.
Across the first seven months of 2023, CICB said export volumes went up by 21.9% year on year, but, overall, values went down by 14.2%.
