Four start-ups win through at Tyson Demo Day
Packer and wet blue producer Tyson held its Demo Day start-up event for 2023 at group headquarters in Arkansas on July 11. Tyson Ventures, the group’s venture capital arm, runs the event.
Its theme this year was upcycling innovation; its aim was “to identify breakthrough upcycling technologies” to allow it, and the meat and livestock industry at large, to become more sustainable.
Following presentations from 11 start-up companies, the group selected four for mentorship and future opportunities with Tyson.
The four successful start-ups were GenoTwin, NetZro and ZwitterCo from the US, and SuperGround from Finland.
At the end of the event, the president of Tyson Ventures and group chief finance officer, John Tyson, said: “It was inspiring to hear from so many creative entrepreneurs who have a passion for innovation and sustainability. We have a critical role to play in responsibly producing food for a growing world and I’m excited to dig deeper into the start-up solutions that can help us feed the world together.”
