Arzignano-based Samia now 100% owned by Zschimmer & Schwarz
Leather chemicals group Zschimmer & Schwarz has increased its stake in Arzignano-based leather finishing solutions developer Samia.
Zschimmer & Schwarz now has 100% ownership of the Italian company. It acquired a 60% stake in Samia at the end of 2019. It said this had proved successful enough for it to decide to acquire the remaining shares in Samia now.
Samia chief executive, Luigi Ciarlo, said it had seen in the German group “a partner that shares our philosophy regarding quality, long-term planning and customer proximity”. He added that, in an increasingly international and competitive environment, Zschimmer & Schwarz’s strong network would make it possible for a wider range of customers to have access to Samia products.
Chief executive of the Zschimmer & Schwarz Group, Dr Christoph Riemer, described Samia’s range as “outstanding tailor-made products for the leather finishing industry”. He said the combination of this with the parent group’s wet-end product portfolio and its global positioning would help them develop new market opportunities together.
“In particular, Samia’s expertise in research and development is an important building block, and we expect great synergy potential in the field of sustainable solutions as well,” Dr Riemer said.
