The Bangladesh government has once again set prices for the salted hides of sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-al-Adha festival, increasing the prices by approximately TK3 per square foot compared to last year’s prices, this is the second year of increases where 2022 saw a TK 7 increase.

Tanners will pay Tk 50-55 ($0.46 - $0.51) per square foot for salted cowhide in Dhaka and Tk 40- 44 elsewhere and  Tk 18-20 for goat skins.

In regards to salting practices, local government ministers have stated that legal action will be taken if salt prices are increased unreasonably and necessary measures will be taken if instances are found.
