Slow start to new fiscal year for India’s leather exports

22/06/2023

India’s leather sector achieved export revenues of $5.25 billion in the 2022-2023 financial year, the 12 months to the end of March 2023.

This was an increase of 7.9% compared to the previous fiscal year.

However, in the first month of the current financial year, April 2023, there were export revenues of just over $360 million, a decline of 17.7% year on year.

The Council for Leather Exports has said it expects export revenues to pick up from July onwards.
