Debbie Burton takes up LWG role
Multi-stakeholder body the Leather Working Group (LWG) has appointed Debbie Burton as its new director of marketing and operations.
She was previously the director of marketing at leather and leather products manufacturing group Pittards. She will remain to serve as the volunteer chair of non-profit group Leather Naturally.
Ms Burton said she was glad to join LWG at a time when there is “both a challenge and an opportunity for the leather industry”. She said she looked forward to working with LWG colleagues “to evolve and develop the standards and narrative around responsibly made leather”.
The chair of LWG, PrimeAsia’s vice-president for procurement, Ian Scher, said Debbie Burton’s knowledge and experience would strengthen the group and help it achieve its vision “of a world where leather is sourced, produced, and used sustainably, protecting people and the planet”.
