Two more additions to SVHC candidate list
The European chemicals agency (ECHA) has announced the further addition of two chemicals to its candidate list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC).
Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide, due to its toxicity for reproduction and Bis(4-chlorophenyl) sulphone, due to its persistent and very bio accumulative hazardous properties.
Their uses are listed as possibly being present in inks and toners and in the production of plastic products but could also be present in leather and leather goods.
With the addition of these two chemicals, the SVHC list now contains 235 entries, where substances may be placed on the authorisation list in the future. If a substance is on that list, its use will be prohibited unless companies apply for authorisation and the European Commission authorises them to continue its use.
