Sources in Turkey say demand for material for gelatine production in the country that suppliers in the domestic meat and leather sector can no longer satisfy the requirements.

As a result, gelatine manufacturers in Turkey have begun to spread the net far and wide in their search for affordable, lower-quality, wet-salted hides to meet their needs.

Reports suggest that this search is now bringing a positive response from hide suppliers in Sudan, Nigeria and other parts of Africa, and also in Guatemala, Honduras and other parts of the Americas.
