Energy project benefits for Sepiciler
Izmir-based tanning group Sepiciler are starting to reap the rewards after the completion of the one and half year long project.
Working with Siemens Turkey energy performance services, the energy efficiency project implemented improvements to process control, upgraded steam and hot water systems and saw the creation and installation of a management system for energy control, monitoring and reporting system infrastructure.
Early results from the project have shown annual reductions in electricity use of 18%, natural gas savings of 40% and a reduction of 1,145 tonnes in CO2 emissions as well as other benefits including improved product quality.
The “pay as you save” initiative, also provided by Siemens, allowed the project to take place without upfront investment and the initial six year payback period has been revised to just over 1 year.
In social media posts, Sepiciler announced the project findings adding “We are committed to reducing our impact on the environment, and these steps we have taken demonstrate our dedication to sustainability”.
