Figures for the first month of 2023 show that the falls in volume and in value of US hide exports have continued into this year.

In January 2023, packers, tanners and traders in the US exported 2.4 million hides, bringing in revenues of $101.1 million. Compared to the same month last year, these figures represent a fall in volume of more than 12.5% and a decrease in revenue of 11%.

Full-year figures for 2022 show that hide exports fell by 11.8% in volume and by 9.3% in value compared to the previous year.
