New sustainability targets announced by Kering
Luxury group Kering has announced a commitment to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 40%, giving itself until 2035 to meet the target. Its figures for 2021 are the baseline.
It unveiled the new target ahead of publication of a sustainability progress report on March 22. In this report, Kering will give an account of its sustainability performance between 2020 and 2023.
Kering first set itself sustainability targets in 2012. On making this new announcement, chief executive, François-Henri Pinault, said the group had made “significant strides” since then, but said it had also increased its ambitions and had decided to move upwards from reductions in carbon intensity to what he called “absolute reductions”.
Its chief sustainability officer, Marie-Claire Daveu, said the aim in setting the new 2035 targets is “to help drive luxury and fashion’s sustainability agenda”.
