Slow start for US beef exports
New figures released by the US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) show that beef exports to several major destinations declined in January.
Volumes fell by 15% overall to just over 100,000 tonnes, but in terms of value, which was just over $700 million, the decline was 32% year on year.
“While beef exports are off to a slow start in 2023, we remain optimistic that post-covid foodservice demand will strengthen as the year progresses,” USMEF chief executive, Dan Halstrom, said.
