Biggest-ever percentage of grain-fed cattle in Australian slaughter

Australia’s total cattle slaughter for 2022 was just over 5.8 million head.
Industry promotional body Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) said this figure was firm year on year but was 5% or 140,000 head lower than the average across the last five years.
MLA also pointed out that almost 2.75 million head in the slaughter total were grain-fed cattle and said this percentage of the total, 47%, was a record.
