Lineapelle opens with a spring in its step

21/02/2023

Lineapelle opened in Milan for its 101st edition on February 21, hosting 1,151 exhibitors from 42 countries. Of these, 541 were leather manufacturers, with 396 accessories and components companies. There were 164 producers of fabrics and other materials , plus 50 companies from other sectors.

According to the organisers, the event coincided with the economic “uncertainties and complexities” of 2022 still in place. They said the market in China remained difficult but that there were other markets in Asia that were showing “significant interest in Italian materials and products”. They also said the US also remains “a fundamental destination for Italian leather”.

Leather production in Italy ended 2022 with declining volumes, the team behind Lineapelle said, but there is optimism that, as spring progresses, this decline can be reversed.
