Software to help shoe firms prepare for new directive on show at Micam

Italy’s national footwear manufacturers’ association, Assocalzaturifici, will present a new software tool called VCS at the Micam exhibition in Milan from February 19-22.

It developed VCS in partnership with Milan-based consultancy Spin 360. The two organisations have said the software can help footwear manufacturers demonstrate supply chain responsibility and sustainability.

In the build-up to Micam, Assocal said the tool would help shoe manufacturers identify and address areas of risk and reduce the impact these might have on the business.

It pointed out that, with compulsory reporting by companies of their corporate sustainability performance likely to come into force in the European Union by 2025, with an obligation to report information from the previous year’s activity, companies active in the European market will have to take action sooner rather than later.

“VCS software will help companies tackle this,” Assocal said.
