Leathergoods lift Burberry, in spite of China disappointment
Luxury brand Burberry has reported sales revenues of £756 million for the third quarter of its business year, the three months to December 31. It said this represented an increase of 1% compared to the same period last year.
The company said it was pleased with its performance over the period because it would have achieved double-digit revenue growth had it not been for covid-19-related disruption in China. Excluding the figures for China, sales growth would have been 11%.
“Europe in particular continued to perform well,” said chief executive, Jonathan Akeroyd, “driven by strong trading over the festive period and leathergoods.”
Burberry said it had achieved double-digit growth in its leathergoods business. In particular, its Lola handbag range performing particularly well.
