Sharp increase in low-priced footwear imports into Mexico

Representatives of the footwear sector in Mexico have expressed  concern about increases in the volume of imports of low-priced footwear, mostly from China.

When full-year information for 2022 is available, it could show the volume of imports of these products into Mexico could reach 130 million pairs. As of October, Mexico had imported 108 million pairs of lower-priced shoes, with 50% of the total coming from China. In 2019, the total was 102 million pairs.
