Losses mount in Argentinean feedlots

05/01/2023

Feedlot losses in Argentina since September have continued increasing to reach a record of almost $110 per animal, according to a report from an industry organisation that represents 94 feedlot establishments.

Losses incurred are because of supply and demand problems, higher feed costs, exchange rates and the high price of calves compared to the stagnation of steer prices.

Owners of feedlots say this has created a perfect storm that has affected profit margins at feedlots across the country.
