Leather chemicals manufacturer Royal Smit & Zoon has announced the renewal of its EcoVadis ‘Gold’ status and retained its position among the top 9% of companies that engage with the programme for the second consecutive year.

Paris-based EcoVadis assesses companies’ performance in environmental management, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.

“We are committed to creating a socially and environmentally sustainable leather value chain, putting sustainability at the heart of what we do,” said Smit & Zoon chief executive, Hans van Haarst.

He said the retention of its EcoVadis recognition would demonstrate to customers that the company is “a trusted partner in sustainability”.
