Entrepreneur to invest in new leathergoods hub

Local authorities in Roanne in central France have confirmed that a new leathergoods manufacturing hub will be built there. Local mayor, Yves Nicolin, has confirmed that the project will go ahead.

Entrepreneur Franck Allilaire set up the new business that will executive the project, VSR, in July, pledging to invest €25 million in the new leathergoods manufacturing hub.

There will be three production sites in the local area, each employing 300 artisans, with the first opening in Mably, just outside Roanne, in 2025.

Mr Nicolin said recruitment was already under way for the project and that a provisional workshop to help people learn leather craftsmanship would open in 2023. He said the aim was to make bags and other leathergoods for major luxury brands.
