Low investment in R&D in Spanish leather sector

According to data published recently by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in Spain, investment in research and development by the country’s textile, clothing, leather and footwear companies in 2021 was €50.8 million.

This figure represents a drop of 15.8% compared to the previous year, and the figure for 2020 €60.4 million was also a marked decrease. Other sectors of the Spanish economy have been increasing their investment in R&D since the covid-19 pandemic.
