China’s industry ministry has reported revenues of $82 billion for the country’s leather industry in the first six months of this year, an increase of 6.5% compared to the same period in 2021. 

The most recent export figures from the China Leather Industry Association cover the first seven months of 2022 and give revenues from shipments of leather and leather products to overseas markets of $61 billion. This represents an increase of almost 30% year on year.

There are indications that figures for subsequent months will be less positive.
