Solid export performance for Spanish leather
Official statistics from Spain’s customs service indicate a solid performance for leather exports in the first nine months of 2022.
Over the nine-months period, Spain exported finished leather worth €313.2 million, up by more than 30% on the same period last year, and semi-finished leather worth €52.9 million, an increase of 10.6%.
There were also shipments of raw hides with a value of €124.1 million, up by 8.4% year on year.
In the same period imports also increased, but the trade balance was positive by more than €144 million.
These results surpassed those for the same period in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic, by 16.8%.
