Limit on Argentina’s beef exports to continue

30/11/2022

Rising global food prices and internal inflationary pressures of around 74% year-on-year have led the Argentine government to announce that it will limit beef exports until the end of 2023.

In 2021, as beef prices rose by 20%, and to protect the access of local consumers to this source of protein, the government imposed a ban on the exports of popular cuts of beef, which were being sent mostly to China. In 2020, Argentina exported 70% of its beef production to that country.

After the latest announcement, though, exports will be limited to 25% of national beef production.
