India’s Trade Promotions Office (ITPO) has confirmed that the India International Leather Fair will go ahead in Chennai from January 31 to February 3, 2023.

This will be the first time the event has run since 2020 because the covid-19 pandemic prevented the 2021 and 2022 editions from taking place.

ITPO said it expected the 2023 event to be a success. In 2020, the Chennai fair attracted more than 450 exhibitors including 114 from outside India. That year, the event attracted 8,500 visitors from the domestic leather industry and a delegation of 250 international buyers.

Research ITPO carried out at the time suggested that around 98% of participants at the India International Leather Fair in 2020 would take part again.
