Pakistan’s leather industry has reported export revenues of 5.8% for the first four months of the current financial year, July to October 2022, with revenues reaching $334.9 million. The figures are from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Over the four-month period, tanners exported 4.5 million square-metres of finished leather with a value of $59.8 million. Compared to the same period a year earlier, these figures represent a decline of 7.5% in volume and of 3.2% in value.

Finished leather products, including garments, brought in $212.5 million, an increase of 2.7% year on year.

There was substantial growth in footwear exports, however. Footwear manufacturers in Pakistan shipped almost 9.7 million pairs of shoes between July and October, bringing in revenues of $62.5 million. This indicates growth of more than 80% in volume and of more than 30% in value year on year.
