People are the priority at Burberry

UK luxury band, Burberry, has anticipated difficulties its employees may face in the coming months owing to  inflation and particularly increasing fuel bills.

It is one of around 11,000 companies to have signed up to a campaign to make sure workers receive a real living wage. The organisation behind the campaign has asked employers to adjust pay rates by May next year to give people a real living wage. Burberry has adjusted its rates six months ahead of the deadline.

Chief executive, Jonathan Akeroyd, commented: “At Burberry, our priority is our people. We’re proud to implement the real living wage early and hope that this, coupled with the policies and wellbeing programmes we already have in place, will help to alleviate some of the challenges our colleagues are facing.”
