China to consume more beef but import less in 2023
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has released projections for production, consumption and global trade of beef for 2023, highlighting the expectation of growth in China’s domestic production and a decrease in its imports.
What USDA foresees is that domestic production in China will increase by 375,000 tonnes weight to reach 7.5 million tonnes, and that imports will fall by 290,000 tonnes to 2.85 million. The net result would be an increase in the consumption of beef in China of 85,000 tonnes, taking the total to 10.3 million tonnes.
