APLF projects to support local designers in Bangkok
At its special edition in Bangkok starting on October 19, APLF will offer fashion designers and buyers from the region opportunities to learn more about leather.
The organisers have invited leathergoods designers from the ASEAN bloc to a showcase and sharing session. Thai and Indonesian handbag designers wll have pieces on display and share entrepreneurial stories and design concepts.
Thai designers such as Javamond Pavoradom of S'uvimol, whose family business is producing exotic skins, and Indonesian designer, Tommy Ambiyo, who has been featured in many fashion magazines, will talk about their love and creative use of leather.
Designers and fashion buyers will also be able to sign up for four training sessions focusing on fundamental knowledge of leather, such as sustainability and also how to apply the 23/24 Spring-Summer and Fall-Winter seasonal trends to develop their next collections.
To support local talent, four Thai institutes have been invited to join an onsite project called Next Leathergoods Designers.
In another initiative, The L.E.D. project, which stands for Leather Exhibitors and Designers, designers will have the chance to create accessories using leather supplied by tanneries exhibiting at APLF. The plan is to display the products they make at APLF Dubai in March 2023.
