Cattle slaughter remains steady in Uruguay
Uruguay’s National Institute for Agriculture and Livestock (INAC) has reported slaughter figures of just over 1.8 million cattle for the first nine months of this year.
This represents a fall of almost 5% compared to the figure for the same months in 2021.
In the month of September, INAC said it had taken note of a 7% decline in steer slaughter, but an increase of 4% in the slaughter of cows and a rise of 17% in the number of heifers going to abattoirs.
