LWG to launch its Leather Chain of Custody project

21/09/2022

Consumers of articles made from leather are increasingly demanding  information on the traceability of the products they purchase. Labelling is key to facilitating information on the origin and supply chain of leathergoods, as it provides visibility and indicates how they were made and where they came from.

It is precisely with this objective in mind that multi-stakeholder body Leather Working Group (LWG) will launch a project called Chain of Custody projct on September 22, during the members’ conference in Milan.

Specifically designed for the leather industry, this initiative aims to provide consumers with solid guarantees when purchasing leather products.

“Being able to make verified sustainability claims, backed by evidence, is a crucial priority. We are excited to launch the LWG Chain of Custody project at the September member conference,” said Christina Trautmann, director of LWF.
