Luxury group Prada acquires has acquired more than 40% of the shares of leather manufacturer in Santa Croce Sull’Arno, Conceria Superior.

Superior’s management team will remain in place and current chief executive, Stefano Caponi, remains in post.

Prada’s chief executive, Patrizio Bertelli, said this was an important step in the brand’s quest for vertical integration. He explained that Prada wanted to increase its industrial know-how and control quality along all the stages of production.

He also said traceability of raw materials and  transparency in the supply chain were important.
