Confindustria warns of impact of spiralling gas prices
Fashion manufacturing industry body Confindustria Moda has warned that rising energy prices are preventing companies, including in the leather sector, recover fully from the covid-19 pandemic.
Confindustria Moda president, Botto Poala, said in recent comments that companies were suffering because costs are increasing even between the time of taking an order and agreeing a price and the time of manufacture.
“For this reason, the cost of making the product is not the same, but significantly higher,” he said.
He warned there was a danger of production costs becoming unsustainable.
“It is a pity,” he added, “because the energy price has halted a period of growth that began in 2021.”
